Blue Cradle Foundation
Blue Cradle was born in April 2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown with the mission of making marine science more accessible to the world. As an Ōtautahi-based charitable trust, we are pursuing this through research expeditions, documentary filmmaking, education for ocean literacy, and advocacy.
We focus on microplastics, biosecurity, biodiversity, and Kororā (little blue penguins) alongside bidding for the 6th Marine Protected Areas Congress (IMPAC6) in 2026. Our long-term vision is to create an independent research vessel operating between New Zealand, the South Pacific, and the Southern Ocean.
