Riccarton High School

Riccarton High School

Riccarton High School has welcomed international students for over 25 years. We maintain a medium-sized international programme of approximately 60 students; small enough to give students the individual care and attention they need, but within a school large enough to provide a high quality programme, plus staff and support services for every facet of New Zealand life.

We are committed to educating the whole person. All learning experiences inside and outside the classroom aim to engage, challenge, and support students to improve their all-round achievement and personal and interpersonal skills.

We have a focus on academic excellence and a reputation for achieving success. Our qualification results are above the national averages and our students regularly win scholarships as well as local, regional and national competitions.

We have a reputation for achievements in sport, drama, music, and with our Pasifika and Kapahaka groups.  These activities allow the students to achieve success and develop their personal and social skills, and the way in which they develop a sense of commitment to the school and its culture – they help build the Riccarton experience.

We are a diverse community – diverse in ethnicity, values and abilities. About 31% of our students were born overseas (from 44 different countries) and we enjoy the multicultural richness that this brings to the school.

The academic achievements of our international students have been consistently high and contribute significantly to our academic record.
