In New Zealand, the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has oversight of companies exporting halal meat products and also certifies approved halal organisations in New Zealand that offer assessment, approval and certification services, with the approval of the importing country.
These include the Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand (FIANZ) and New Zealand Islamic Meat Management.
The Federation of Islamic Associations of New Zealand works to provide a unified voice for the New Zealand Muslim community as well as operating an internationally recognised halal certification procedure. FIANZ's halal certificates are acceptable in the Middle East, USA, Europe, South East Asia and all other countries where New Zealand products are exported
